"We're Talkin' Jazz"

with Rachelle Ferrell

The Jazz Heritage Center, in collaboration with Yoshi's San Francisco, continues its "We're Talkin' Jazz" pre-concert lecture series with Rachelle Ferrell on Saturday, May 8th from 6pm-7pm in the Jazz Heritage Center's Media & Education Center.

Vocalist extraordinaire, pianist, and composer, Rachelle Ferrell, has long been straddling Jazz/R&B boundaries while completely defying the limits of vocal expression. Her astounding range, pitch perfect execution, and dazzling vocal agility set her apart as one of the greatest vocalists of our generation.

Join us for an intimate pre-concert talk with this rare gem of an artist, as she peels back the layers of her boundless gifts. Ms. Ferrell will be interviewed by jazz educator and blogger, Wesley Watkins, Ph.D., with time for audience Q&A. To read an earlier interview with Ms. Ferrell by Dr. Watkins, please click here.

This talk is free to members of the Jazz Heritage Center and ticket-holders for any of Ms. Ferrell's performances at Yoshi's, May 7-9.

The Jazz Heritage Center's Media and Education Center is located at 1330 Fillmore at the rear of the lobby, next to Yoshi's box office.

Due to limited seating, advance RSVP is required.

Jazz Heritage Center

The Jazz Heritage Center (JHC) is the only permanent cultural and educational complex dedicated to the long history of Jazz in San Francisco and the Fillmore District. Located within the new Fillmore Heritage Center in the heart of the Historic Fillmore Jazz Preservation District, the non-profit Jazz Heritage Center is part jazz museum, part jazz cultural center, and part jazz art gallery.

By showcasing art and historical exhibitions, concerts, films and youth programming, the JHC’s mission is to preserve and promote jazz, an American national treasure, while celebrating its presence as an active, living art form in San Francisco and beyond.
